The bulk of passengers using Varna Airport are tourists. Therefore, the airport is connected to the city and some resort areas by a convenient transport network.
Getting to the bus station or the center of Varna, as well as nearby resorts from the airport is very easy.

By bus
Convenient bus No. 409 departs directly from Varna Airport, the stop of which is located on the square in front of Terminal No. 2 of the airport terminal.
This bus goes to the Golden Sands resort, passing through the center of Varna.
The movement interval is 15 minutes. Opening hours: from 05.10 to 23.00.

The ticket can be purchased from the conductor. The cost of travel to the city center is 3 leva (6 euros).
Bus number 409 makes a stop at Varna city bus station. From there you can take other buses to the resorts:

By train
Varna Airport is not connected to the city by rail. This is not necessary, because the city railway station is not that far from the airport. And the most popular transport among tourists is taxi and bus.

- take bus number 409 to the Dolphinarium stop (one of the intermediate stops),
- there change to city bus number 9 and get to "ZhP Gara"— the main city railway station.
From it you can go not only to the suburban resorts of the Bulgarian coast, but also to various cities of the country.

If you arrived at Varna airport on a night flight, a taxi is the only way to get from there to the city.
Taxis can be taken directly from the airport upon arrival. The parking lots are located on the station square, directly opposite the exit from the arrivals sector of terminal No. 2. They can be seen from the baggage claim area.

Varna Airport, located just 8 kilometers from the second largest city in Bulgaria on the Black Sea, is most convenient if you plan to relax in the resorts of the northern coast (Albena, Balchik, Golden Sands, St. Constantine and Helena, Kranevo, Riviera, Sunny Day) and in Varna itself.
Previously, before the global reconstruction carried out by the German management company Fraport, this airport was a rather pitiful sight - a small and cramped provincial airport, with eternal queues during the high summer season of tourists flying on charter holidays to Bulgaria from different countries. However, after 2013, with the opening of the new modern Terminal 2, the situation improved significantly.
Varna Airport receives regular (Sofia, Moscow, Vienna, London and Istanbul) and charter flights from different countries (mainly in the summer). During the high tourist season, this is approximately 147 airlines connecting Varna with 160 cities in 58 countries.
There is free Wi-Fi in Terminal 2 of Varna Airport. In addition to the traditional Duty Free, in the departure area there is a Bulgarian souvenir shop and several coffee shops, as well as a McDonald's. There is also a VIP terminal at Varna Airport with a lounge and a view of the runway.

Public transport
Getting from Varna Airport to most of the seaside resorts on the northern coast is so easy and very cheap on city buses that if you are not burdened with large luggage, you can easily save on a taxi (although it is not expensive in Bulgaria) and go by public transport.
After leaving Terminal 2, you need to go right to Terminal 1, where there is a stop for regular city buses. Ticket prices range from 1 to 3 Bulgarian levs, buses run from 5:45 to 23:00 at intervals of approximately 15 minutes. The ticket is sold from the conductor.

From Varna Airport you can get to the city by bus or taxi. A bus from Varna Airport will take a tourist in 20 minutes, the fare is 1.5 euros (3 levs). The duration of the trip on the Varna Airport - City Center transfer is only 8 minutes, the price of the service is at least 17 euros. The distance from the airport to Varna is 7.5 km.
The city bus travels through the city center, but its final stop is the Golden Sands resort. The bus is comfortable to travel on, but there is no luggage compartment for large bags. Buses stop moving at night. You can only pay for travel in local currency – Bulgarian levs.

Varna is called the cultural and sea capital of Bulgaria. The resort is in demand among people with different goals and interests, because in addition to beach holidays, it is known for its attractions. The main landmark of the city is the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built at the end of the 19th century. Bus number 409 runs through the city (to Golden Sands). It takes 20 minutes to get to the center of Varna (Cathedral stop), the ticket costs 1.5 euros. Tickets can be purchased from the bus conductor upon boarding.

Varna Airport is located on the Northern Black Sea coast of Bulgaria, 8 kilometers west of the center of Varna.
On August 15, 2013, a new passenger terminal was inaugurated at Varna Airport. Modern arrival and departure areas, 25 check-in counters, air conditioning and ventilation systems, and an interior with access to daylight will allow serving up to 1,037 passengers per hour and will significantly speed up check-in time, baggage claim, and customs control. During the construction of the terminal, high-quality materials from Germany, Belgium, Italy and Holland were used.

All guests arriving at Varna Airport by personal transport can use paid parking, which is located next to the Terminal 1 building. As for ticket prices, within the city limits a bus and trolleybus fare costs 1 lev, for the fourth year in a row. So at the beginning of my stay here, travel cost 20 rubles, and now it’s 24 rubles, and only from changes in the exchange rate of the ruble to the euro and, naturally, to the lev.
If you go towards Alen Mak, then the city limits end at the Marek stop, and the ticket price increases to 1.6... After that it’s even more expensive...
Alen Mak is a suburb of Varna, and a ticket from the city center to the stop of the same name costs 2.10 leva. But to go to Golden Sands along the same route will cost 3 levs...
I always joke that we have to pay for our pine trees and peace. But I rarely take the bus, so it’s not very expensive.
