If you have NCE LFMN in the column of the point of arrival on your ticket, this means that the Cote d'Azur is waiting for you. It is with such Latin letters that the airport code "Nice - Côte d" Azur is encrypted. The second name indicates that the hub serves not only the city, but the entire coast of the famous French Riviera. And also the whole state, albeit a dwarf one, - Monaco. For information on how to get from the airport to your destination, as well as how not to get lost in the two terminals, read this article. Here you can get acquainted with the hub map and find out how best to get to public transport stops.

General information

Nice - Cote d "Azur, or simply "Nice", is an airport with international status. And even more: it is the third largest hub in France. It is second only to the capital Orly and Charles de Gaulle. Thus, it would not be an exaggeration to say that the local airport is the real air gateway of the South of France. Annual passenger traffic here reaches ten million people. Nevertheless, everything here is simple and compact. The two main terminals are within walking distance from each other. Free shuttles run between them at intervals of twenty minutes, but if you are light, this distance can be overcome very quickly.

To be precise, there are three terminals at the airport. But, as you know, the Cote d'Azur is a favorite place for living or relaxing for moneybags. It is for their private jets that the third terminal was built.

Story

God Himself ordered that such a world-famous and popular resort as Nice have an airport of the highest level. All the innovations of France were invariably introduced in the main city of the Cote d'Azur. Therefore, the aviation exhibition of 1910 was held here. And since 1918, an amazing seaplane took off into the sky over Nice, heading for Corsica. The hub received the official status of a civil airport in 1929. The Second World War had just died down when a long paved runway was built. The airport received its current name "Nice - Côte d" Azur in 1955. At first it had only one terminal. Now this oldest building mainly serves passengers of domestic flights.

Where is

This city is very compact - Nice. The airport, whose address is listed in the directories as 06281 Nice Cedex 3, France, is actually located within the resort. If you walk along the Promenade des Anglais to the west from the main street to the confluence of the river Var into the sea, you will find yourself right in the hub. All the way from the center is less than six kilometers. Perhaps this is the only airport where you can get not only quickly, but also pleasantly: A palm-lined promenade runs along the sea past beautiful villas. From the airport itself there is a helicopter service to the city-state of Monaco. Other resorts, as well as Italian Liguria, go Shuttle Buses. Cannes, Antibes, Saint-Tropez, Grasse - you can get everywhere in less than an hour. The road to Genoa, Turin and Milan will take a little longer. This hub is also used to get to the Alpine ski resorts.

How to get to Nice Airport

Due to the short distance, the terminals are easily accessible on foot or by bike. Especially if you live in the western part of the city. Without traffic jams and delays, you can get to the hub by train. Lots of trains go that way. You want one that stops at Gare Nice St Augustin. The exit from the trains is right at the terminal number 1. If you need a T-2, you can use the free shuttle. These buses usually connect with trains. It should be noted right away that the French Riviera is a mega-expensive region. A taxi, despite the short distances, will cost you about 150-200 Euros. Therefore, if you do not fly out late at night, you should use the services of bus transport. There are many routes running around the city. You want the one that says "Nice Airport".

Little tricks of local buses

Everything is not designed to “rip off” as much as possible from tourists, while sparing local residents. Therefore, for those who arrive for the first time in the city of Nice, the airport may seem like a trap for their budget. Therefore, people usually go along with the crowd towards the sign and take routes 98 or 99. Such a journey costs six euros. The ticket is bought at the box office at the bus stop. But if you exit the terminal through the entrance, where the “Taxi” sign hangs, you can go to the city for one and a half euros.

Right at the entrance there is a large one. There are routes No. 23, 24, 52, 59, 600, 70, 94. Some of them go to other cities of the Riviera (for example, No. 500: "Nice Grasse" through the airport). The ticket can be purchased from the driver. The voucher must be validated immediately, after which it is valid for 70 minutes. This gives you the right to transfer to another public transport, for example, a tram. Municipal buses stop if a passenger asks for it or if a person who wants to get into the car waves his hand.

Nice airport map

Both terminals have duty-free shops, cafes, Wi-Fi recreation areas, playgrounds, currency exchange offices. In T-1, where the flight "St. Petersburg-Nice" arrives, there is a conference hall with a capacity of 250 people. The VAT refund office is located in T-2. Passengers of the Moscow-Nice flight arrive at this terminal. By the way, voice announcements about check-in or boarding on these routes are duplicated in Russian. Recently, the Tax Free office has been opened in the first terminal. Near T-2, in a multi-level parking lot, there are car rental offices. Nice St Augustin is located a few hundred meters from T-1. Gare St Laurent du Var is located three kilometers from the airport. Bus routes No. 1A, 1B and 200 go to it.

Nice Airport, officially Nice Côte d'Azur, is located right at the mouth of the Var river on the Mediterranean coast. This is the main airport of the French Riviera. It is its location that affects the flow of passengers. From here it is easy to get to the famous resorts of Nice, as well as to the Principality of Monaco, Cannes and Italy. Nice Airport is the third busiest in France and second only to the giants Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly.

The airport is located 7 kilometers west of the city of Nice, on the site where the first aviation exhibition of Nice was opened. By the 20s of the last century, postal air service was organized between Nice and Corsica. In the 30s, the airfield site received the official status of an airport, and by 1955 its current name was Nice Cote d'Azur. Now the airport has 2 modern terminals and serves flights from all over Europe.

How to get there

The main road that leads to the airport is the Promenade des Anglais. On its route, you can even get to border Italy. And from the popular Cannes, there are as many as three highways. Therefore, the method and time of travel varies greatly depending on the point of departure of the passenger.

Buses are the most popular way to travel between the city and the airport. They carry out movement on two dozen routes, some of them are intercity ones. The interval in the flight schedule ranges from 20 to 40 minutes. At rush hour - 50-60 minutes. Buses are also divided into 2 types: regular and express. A trip by bus of the first type from the center of Nice will cost 2EUR, the journey will take about half an hour. The ticket price for express buses starts from 6EUR. You can view the bus schedule and route of their movement.

Like all major airports in France, shuttles run in Nice. They deliver passengers to some hotels. The price depends on the specific shuttle.

The second available transport is Railway. There is a train station at Nice Airport where trains arrive from the central railway station of the city. You can drive from the center to the airport in 10 minutes, the price will be approximately 2 EUR. Buses run from the airport station to the terminals: bus number 99 (approaches T2), bus number 23 (approaches T1). In addition to regular trains, electric trains go from the center to the airport. They do not arrive at the airport's central station, but at Saint-Augustin station. Keep in mind that the distance between the station and terminal 1 is about 500 meters. Trains also run from the airport to other nearby cities, the ticket price depends on the direction. You can find out the exact train schedule, as well as buy tickets online.

You can comfortably get from Nice to the airport by taxi. It will cost from 20 to 30 EUR during the daytime, at night the rate increases by a couple of euros. You can also use the transfer service, which is better to arrange in advance. The advantage of this option is that you can choose the required class of car yourself and the price for the trip will be fixed.

The most exclusive way of communication is the service of ordering a helicopter. You can negotiate it with a number of companies and a helicopter will take you from Monaco, St. Tropez or Cannes.

Airport terminal map

Nice Côte d'Azur Airport has two terminals, each with 3 floors. Most of the car parks are located in Terminal 1. The first floor is divided into arrival and departure areas with 3 exits each and one additional exit in the departure area (for people with disabilities). This floor contains most of the shops, two post offices, an Internet access point and change machines. There is also a spacious waiting room and several lounges. They have mother and child rooms and showers. In the arrivals area, near exit A0, there is a left-luggage office. Terminal 2 is slightly larger than the previous one. The first floor is entirely occupied by the arrivals area. There are four entrances. The sun is the source of life on the planet. Its rays give the necessary light and warmth. At the same time, ultraviolet radiation from the Sun is detrimental to all living things. To find a compromise between the beneficial and harmful properties of the Sun, meteorologists calculate the ultraviolet radiation index, which characterizes the degree of its danger.

What UV radiation from the sun is

The ultraviolet radiation of the Sun has a wide range and is divided into three regions, two of which reach the Earth.

  • UV-A. Longwave radiation range
    315–400 nm

The rays pass almost freely through all atmospheric "barriers" and reach the Earth.

  • UVB. Medium wave radiation range
    280–315 nm

The rays are 90% absorbed by the ozone layer, carbon dioxide and water vapor.

  • UVC. Shortwave radiation range
    100–280 nm

The most dangerous area. They are completely absorbed by stratospheric ozone without reaching the Earth.

The more ozone, clouds and aerosols in the atmosphere, the less the harmful effect of the Sun. However, these saving factors have a high natural variability. The annual maximum of stratospheric ozone occurs in spring, and the minimum - in autumn. Cloud cover is one of the most variable weather characteristics. The content of carbon dioxide also changes all the time.

At what values of the UV index is there a danger

The UV index gives an estimate of the amount of UV radiation from the Sun on the Earth's surface. UV index values range from safe 0 to extreme 11+.

  • 0–2 Low
  • 3–5 Moderate
  • 6–7 High
  • 8–10 Very high
  • 11+ Extreme

In mid-latitudes, the UV index approaches unsafe values (6–7) only at the maximum height of the Sun above the horizon (occurs in late June - early July). At the equator, during the year, the UV index reaches 9...11+ points.

What is the benefit of the sun

In small doses, UV radiation from the Sun is essential. The sun's rays synthesize melanin, serotonin, vitamin D, necessary for our health, and prevent rickets.

Melanin creates a kind of protective barrier for skin cells from the harmful effects of the sun. Because of it, our skin darkens and becomes more elastic.

Happiness hormone serotonin affects our well-being: it improves mood and increases overall vitality.

Vitamin D strengthens the immune system, stabilizes blood pressure and performs anti-rickets functions.

Why is the sun dangerous?

When sunbathing, it is important to understand that the line between beneficial and harmful Sun is very thin. Excessive sunburn always borders on a burn. UV radiation damages DNA in skin cells.

The body's defense system cannot cope with such an aggressive impact. This lowers the immune system, damages the retina, causes skin aging and can lead to cancer.

Ultraviolet destroys the DNA strand

How does the sun affect people?

Susceptibility to UV radiation depends on skin type. The most sensitive to the Sun are people of the European race - for them, protection is required already at an index of 3, and 6 is considered dangerous.

At the same time, for Indonesians and African Americans, this threshold is 6 and 8, respectively.

Who is affected the most by the Sun?

    people with light
    skin tone

    People with many moles

Residents of the middle latitudes while relaxing in the south

    winter lovers
    fishing

    Skiers and climbers

People with a family history of skin cancer

In what weather is the sun most dangerous

The fact that the Sun is dangerous only in hot and clear weather is a common misconception. You can also get burned in cool cloudy weather.

Cloudiness, no matter how dense it may be, does not at all reduce the amount of ultraviolet to zero. In mid-latitudes, cloudiness significantly reduces the risk of sunburn, which cannot be said about traditional places. beach holiday. For example, in the tropics, if in sunny weather you can get burned in 30 minutes, then in cloudy weather - in a couple of hours.

How to protect yourself from the sun

To protect yourself from harmful rays, follow these simple rules:

Get less exposure to the Sun during the midday hours

Wear light-colored clothing, including wide-brimmed hats

    Use protective creams

    Wear sunglasses

Stay in the shade more on the beach

Which sunscreen to choose

Sunscreen varies in terms of sun protection and is labeled from 2 to 50+. The numbers indicate the proportion of solar radiation that overcomes the protection of the cream and reaches the skin.

For example, when applying a cream labeled 15, only 1/15 (or 7%) of the UV rays will penetrate the protective film. In the case of cream 50, only 1/50, or 2%, affects the skin.

Sunscreen creates a reflective layer on the body. However, it is important to understand that no cream is capable of reflecting 100% of ultraviolet light.

For everyday use, when the time spent under the Sun does not exceed half an hour, a cream with protection 15 is quite suitable. For tanning on the beach, it is better to take 30 and above. However, for fair-skinned people, it is recommended to use a cream labeled 50+.

How to apply sunscreen

The cream should be applied evenly to all exposed skin, including the face, ears and neck. If you plan to sunbathe for a long time, then the cream should be applied twice: 30 minutes before going out and, additionally, before going to the beach.

Please refer to the cream instructions for how much to apply.

How to apply sunscreen while swimming

Sunscreen should be applied every time after bathing. Water washes away the protective film and, reflecting the sun's rays, increases the dose of ultraviolet radiation received. Thus, when bathing, the risk of burning increases. However, due to the cooling effect, you may not feel the burn.

Excessive sweating and rubbing with a towel is also a reason to re-protect the skin.

It should be remembered that on the beach, even under an umbrella, the shade does not provide full protection. Sand, water, and even grass reflect up to 20% of UV rays, increasing their impact on the skin.

How to protect your eyes

Sunlight reflecting off water, snow, or sand can cause painful retinal burns. Use sunglasses with an ultraviolet filter to protect your eyes.

Danger for skiers and climbers

In the mountains, the atmospheric "filter" is thinner. For every 100 meters of altitude, the UV index increases by 5%.

Snow reflects up to 85% of UV rays. In addition, up to 80% of the ultraviolet reflected by the snow cover is again reflected by the clouds.

Thus, in the mountains, the Sun is most dangerous. Protecting the face, lower part of the chin and ears is necessary even in cloudy weather.

How to deal with sunburn if you are burned

Treat the body with a damp sponge to wet the burn

Lubricate the burnt areas with anti-burn cream

If the temperature rises, consult a doctor, you may be advised to take an antipyretic

If the burn is severe (skin is very swollen and blisters), seek medical attention.
